PM Modi Hails Indian Athletes for Stellar Performance at 2025 Asian Athletics Championships

RR Team, June 2, 2025June 2, 2025

New Delhi, June 2, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian athletics team for their remarkable performance at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships, held recently in South Korea. In a message shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister commended the athletes for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding results.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted:

“India is proud of our contingent for their stupendous performance at the recently held 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea. The hardwork and determination of every athlete were clearly visible throughout the tournament. Best wishes to the athletes for their future endeavours.”

This praise comes in the wake of India’s best-ever showing at the prestigious continental event, with Indian athletes securing a large haul of medals across track and field events. Their achievements have not only elevated the country’s position on the medals tally but also filled the nation with pride.

The Prime Minister’s message reflects the growing recognition and support for Indian athletes on international platforms. He highlighted how the dedication and resilience of the Indian contingent were evident in every performance, from sprinting events to long-distance races, and from jumps to throws.

A New Era for Indian Athletics

India’s athletes delivered one of their most successful outings at the Asian Athletics Championships, showcasing consistent improvement and world-class standards. Several personal bests and national records were set during the competition, indicating a significant rise in the performance levels of Indian sports at the global level.

Young emerging talents and seasoned athletes alike contributed to the overall success. Their display of skill and sportsmanship has inspired aspiring athletes across the country. The government’s continued support for sports development through initiatives like Khelo India and Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) has been instrumental in nurturing such talent.

Building Momentum Towards the Olympics

The Prime Minister’s encouragement also comes at a critical time as India builds momentum toward the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Performances like these boost morale and provide the confidence needed for athletes to compete against the best in the world.

Sports analysts have hailed India’s performance in South Korea as a turning point in track and field sports for the country, especially in events where India traditionally faced tough competition. The increasing depth in India’s athletics pool is a result of better training facilities, improved coaching, and international exposure.

National Pride and Inspiration

The Prime Minister’s message has been widely appreciated by athletes, coaches, and sports fans across the country. It serves not just as a gesture of appreciation but also as motivation for the next generation of Indian athletes. Several members of the Indian contingent expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister for his constant encouragement and recognition of their efforts.

As the nation celebrates this sporting milestone, the focus now shifts to maintaining and improving this momentum. With strong backing from both the government and the public, Indian athletics is set on a path of continued growth and success on the world stage.
