Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Rajkot on January 11, 2026, to inaugurate the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Kutch and Saurashtra regions, a key initiative aimed at accelerating region-specific industrial development and attracting global investment to western Gujarat. The conference marks a significant step in expanding the successful Vibrant Gujarat model beyond global summits to grassroots regional platforms.
Trade Show and Major Announcements
According to official information released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the Prime Minister will inaugurate a Trade Show at around 1:30 PM, followed by the formal opening of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference at Marwadi University, Rajkot, at approximately 2:00 PM. He will also address industry leaders, investors, policymakers and stakeholders gathered at the event.
A key highlight of the visit will be the announcement of 14 greenfield smart Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation Limited (GIDC) estates. In addition, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the GIDC Medical Device Park in Rajkot, strengthening Gujarat’s position as a manufacturing hub for high-value healthcare and medical equipment.
Focus on Kutch and Saurashtra’s Industrial Potential
Scheduled from January 11 to 12, 2026, the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for Kutch and Saurashtra will cater to 12 districts across the two regions. Designed exclusively for these areas, the conference aims to unlock their unique industrial strengths and create fresh momentum for sustainable economic growth.
The event will focus on priority sectors including ceramics, engineering, ports and logistics, fisheries, petrochemicals, agro and food processing, minerals, green energy ecosystems, skill development, startups, MSMEs, tourism and cultural industries. These sectors reflect both the traditional strengths and emerging opportunities of western Gujarat.
International Participation and Global Outreach
Enhancing global engagement, Japan, South Korea, Rwanda and Ukraine will participate as partner countries in the conference. Their presence is expected to facilitate cross-border collaborations, technology exchange and investment partnerships, aligning Gujarat’s regional growth ambitions with global value chains.
The international focus underscores Gujarat’s strategy of positioning regional economies as globally competitive investment destinations, while ensuring local employment generation and inclusive development.
Decentralised Growth Under Viksit Bharat @2047
The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences are aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, which emphasises decentralised development, ease of doing business, innovation-led growth and sustainable employment creation. By bringing the Vibrant Gujarat platform closer to regional hubs, the initiative empowers districts to shape their own development trajectories.
The Rajkot conference is the second in the series of four regional conferences planned across Gujarat. The first was held in Mehsana for North Gujarat in October 2025. Upcoming conferences for South Gujarat and Central Gujarat are scheduled to take place in Surat in April 2026 and Vadodara in June 2026, respectively.
Building Towards Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027
The outcomes and achievements of all regional conferences will be showcased at the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, scheduled for January 2027. This approach ensures that regional aspirations and investment commitments are integrated into Gujarat’s broader economic narrative.
Officials believe the regional conference model will not only attract investments but also promote innovation, strengthen regional supply chains and co-create Gujarat’s growth story by empowering local industries and entrepreneurs.
