PM Modi Urges Balanced, Stress-Free Environment During Exams

RR Team, January 14, 2026January 14, 2026
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Tuesday shared an article emphasising the importance of creating an atmosphere of balance, patience and emotional well-being among students during the ongoing exam season. The Prime Minister underlined that education should focus on holistic development rather than being driven solely by marks and rankings.

The message was shared in response to a post on X by Union Minister of State Shri Jayant Chaudhury, who authored the article highlighting the pressures faced by students and the crucial role played by parents, teachers and peers in shaping a supportive learning environment.

Patience Over Pressure in Education

Sharing the article through the official PMO India handle on X, Prime Minister Modi called for a shift in mindset during examinations. He stressed that while marks and assessments are important, they should serve as tools for guidance rather than becoming the sole measure of a student’s worth or potential.

“Let us celebrate patience over pressure in education,” the Prime Minister said, echoing a sentiment he has consistently advocated over the years. He highlighted that excessive academic pressure often leads to stress and anxiety, which can negatively impact both mental health and long-term learning outcomes.

The Prime Minister described the article as a “must-read” during the exam season, encouraging parents and students alike to reflect on the larger purpose of education.

Role of Parents and Peers

The article written by Union Minister Shri Jayant Chaudhury focuses on the collective responsibility of parents, peers and educators in creating a balanced environment for students. It urges families to avoid constant comparisons, unrealistic expectations and undue pressure linked to academic performance.

According to the article, peers also play a significant role in shaping attitudes towards exams. Healthy competition, mutual support and empathy among students can help reduce stress and foster confidence.

The Prime Minister’s endorsement of the article reinforces the message that education is a shared journey, where emotional support is as important as academic guidance.

Long-Standing Focus on Student Well-Being

Prime Minister Modi has repeatedly addressed the issue of exam-related stress among students through various initiatives. His annual “Pariksha Pe Charcha” interaction with students, teachers and parents focuses on stress management, self-belief and positive thinking.

Through these efforts, the Prime Minister has encouraged young learners to see examinations as opportunities to learn and grow rather than as life-defining moments. He has also appealed to parents to act as emotional anchors instead of sources of pressure.

The latest message aligns with this broader vision of nurturing confident, resilient and emotionally healthy students.

Relevance During the Exam Season

The exam season often brings heightened anxiety for students across the country, particularly those appearing for board examinations and competitive entrance tests. Experts have long pointed out that mental well-being plays a crucial role in academic performance.

By sharing the article, the Prime Minister has once again drawn national attention to the importance of balance in education. The message resonates with educators and mental health professionals who advocate a supportive ecosystem for young learners.
