PM Modi’s Ashadhi Ekadashi Message Inspires Service

RR Team, July 6, 2025July 6, 2025

New Delhi — On the sacred occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm wishes to citizens across India. He prayed to Bhagwan Vitthal and encouraged everyone to serve the poor and help build a compassionate society.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote:

“Warm wishes on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi! We pray to Bhagwan Vitthal and seek His continued blessings on all of us. May He guide us towards a society full of happiness and abundance. May we also keep serving the poor and downtrodden.”

He also greeted people in Hindi and Marathi, reflecting India’s diverse cultural fabric.

Why Ashadhi Ekadashi Matters

Ashadhi Ekadashi, also known as Devshayani Ekadashi, holds deep religious importance in the Hindu calendar. It marks the beginning of Chaturmas, a four-month phase when Lord Vishnu enters a yogic slumber.

The day holds special meaning in Maharashtra. Each year, thousands of devotees walk the Pandharpur Wari, a pilgrimage in honor of Lord Vitthal. They walk barefoot, sing bhajans, and chant “Vitthal Vitthal” with immense devotion.

This vibrant spiritual tradition continues to inspire millions across generations.

From Devotion to Social Action

PM Modi highlighted that true devotion lies in service. He urged citizens to go beyond rituals and serve the needy with compassion and humility.

“Let us keep serving the poor and downtrodden. May Bhagwan Vitthal guide us towards building a society full of happiness and abundance,” he said.

By invoking Vitthal’s name, PM Modi emphasized values like selflessness, community care, and inner strength.

Cultural Unity Through Language

PM Modi’s Marathi message read:

“आषाढी एकादशीच्या या पवित्र दिनाच्या मनोभावे शुभेच्छा! आपल्यावर विठ्ठलाचे आशीर्वाद सदैव असेच कायम राहोत…”

This gesture celebrated the Warkari tradition and acknowledged the cultural pride of Maharashtra.

His use of regional language helped deepen emotional connection. It also reinforced the idea of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”—a united India built on shared values and diverse traditions.

Faith as a Tool for Progress

Although rooted in mythology, Ashadhi Ekadashi remains relevant today. PM Modi’s message blended timeless spiritual wisdom with modern civic responsibility. He encouraged citizens to practice faith through acts of kindness and community service.

Faith must inspire action. Through meaningful celebration, we can drive social change and uplift the less fortunate.

Pilgrimage as a Collective Journey

The Pandharpur Wari is more than a religious walk. It is a movement of unity and equality. Devotees from all walks of life walk side-by-side for one cause.

This year too, lakhs of Warkaris joined the Wari with discipline and spiritual focus. Their dedication reflects India’s deep-rooted belief in collective strength and spiritual harmony.

Conclusion: A Sacred Call to Serve

PM Modi’s message on Ashadhi Ekadashi delivers a powerful thought—spirituality must translate into service. Festivals are not only for prayer but also for action, compassion, and unity.

Let this day inspire every Indian to be more giving, more understanding, and more united in purpose. May Bhagwan Vitthal bless every home with joy, peace, and prosperity.
