Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, as well as Gujarat, on March 7th and 8th. His itinerary is packed with key inaugurations and launches aimed at enhancing healthcare, infrastructure, food security, and women’s empowerment, reflecting his government’s commitment to inclusive development.
On March 7th, the Prime Minister will arrive in Silvassa, where he will inaugurate Phase I of the NAMO Hospital, a state-of-the-art 450-bedded medical facility built at a cost of over ₹460 crore. This hospital is expected to significantly improve healthcare services, particularly benefiting tribal communities in the region. He will also lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹2,580 crore, covering vital sectors such as road infrastructure, schools, health centers, water supply, and sanitation. These projects are aimed at strengthening connectivity, boosting industrial growth, creating employment opportunities, and improving public welfare. Additionally, he will distribute appointment letters under the Rozgar Mela and provide benefits to beneficiaries of the PM Awas Yojana – Urban, Gir Adarsh Aajeevika Yojana, and the Sylvan Didi scheme.
A major highlight of his visit will be the launch of the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign in Limbayat, Surat, where he will distribute benefits under the National Food Security Act to over 2.3 lakh beneficiaries. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader goal of ensuring that no one in need is left behind when it comes to access to food and nutrition
On March 8th, which marks International Women’s Day, the Prime Minister will travel to Navsari to participate in the Lakhpati Didi programme. This initiative empowers women by providing them with resources and training to enhance their incomes and economic independence. He will interact with the beneficiaries and felicitate five outstanding Lakhpati Didis with certificates recognizing their achievements.
Furthering his commitment to rural development and entrepreneurship, the Prime Minister will launch two key Gujarat government schemes: G-SAFAL and G-MAITRI. The G-SAFAL scheme is designed to provide financial assistance and entrepreneurial training to self-help group (SHG) women from economically weaker families in two aspirational districts and thirteen aspirational blocks of Gujarat. The G-MAITRI initiative will offer financial support and mentorship to startups working towards enhancing rural livelihoods.
