Prime Minister Modi Urges Global Participation in International Yoga Day 2025, Highlights Youth Initiatives and Personal Involvement in Visakhapatnam Event

RR Team, May 25, 2025May 25, 2025

With the 11th International Day of Yoga fast approaching, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 122nd episode of his radio address Mann Ki Baat, urged people across the globe to embrace yoga not just as a physical discipline but as a path to holistic well-being. Reflecting on the growing enthusiasm surrounding the event since its inception in 2015, the Prime Minister highlighted how Yoga Day has become a worldwide movement, transcending cultures and geographies.

In a heartfelt message, he called upon citizens to celebrate this year’s Yoga Day in unique and meaningful ways. From forming human yoga chains to practicing at culturally significant or scenic locations, the Prime Minister encouraged communities to think creatively and inclusively, turning the celebration into a vibrant festival of wellness.

Sharing his own plans for the day, Prime Minister Modi expressed his excitement about participating in this year’s celebrations in Visakhapatnam. He applauded the efforts of Andhra Pradesh in launching the ‘YogAndhra Abhiyan’—an ambitious campaign aiming to cultivate a yoga culture across the state with a target of 10 lakh regular practitioners. This, he noted, is a powerful example of how grassroots initiatives can spark larger change in health and lifestyle.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the growing interest from India’s corporate sector, noting how many companies are now incorporating yoga into their workplace culture. Startups, in particular, have begun introducing ‘office yoga hours’ and designated spaces for practice—an encouraging sign of the private sector’s commitment to the nation’s wellness journey.

To mark the 11th edition of Yoga Day and commemorate a decade of its celebration, the Ministry of Ayush has launched a series of special initiatives aimed at making yoga more accessible and relevant. Among them, Yoga Sangam has witnessed overwhelming community participation, with over 6,000 organizations registering to host activities. Yoga Unplugged is energizing young people to explore yoga’s benefits, while Samyoga is working to integrate yoga with traditional healthcare systems like Ayurveda and Homoeopathy, bringing it into the core of everyday health practices.

Prime Minister Modi’s words resonate deeply: “Yoga will change the way you live your life.” His message is a reminder that yoga is not just about the body, but about harmony between body, mind, and soul. As the world looks toward June 21, the International Day of Yoga is once again poised to inspire millions—uniting people through breath, movement, and mindfulness in pursuit of a healthier, more peaceful world.
