Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar 2025 Awarded to DARPG

RR Team, September 14, 2025September 14, 2025
On the occasion of Hindi Diwas 2025, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) was honored with the prestigious Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar for excellence in the use of Hindi in governance. The award ceremony was held on September 14 at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Center in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, presented the award to V. Srinivas, Secretary of DARPG. This recognition comes in the category of Ministries/Departments with less than 300 personnel for the year 2024–25. Remarkably, DARPG has received this honor for the second consecutive year.

Recognition for Promoting Hindi in Governance

The Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, confers the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar annually to recognize outstanding contributions to the implementation of the Official Language Policy. The award reflects the government’s emphasis on promoting Hindi as a medium of governance and administration across ministries.

DARPG’s commitment to enhancing the use of Hindi in official communication has been widely acknowledged. Through systematic monitoring and guidance, the department ensures that the Official Language Policy of the Union is effectively implemented not only within its divisions but also in its attached offices and autonomous bodies.

DARPG’s Continued Efforts

The department has consistently encouraged the increased use of Hindi in government correspondence, digital platforms, and policy documents. Training programs, awareness drives, and compliance monitoring have significantly boosted the visibility of Hindi in administrative work.

Receiving the award for two years in a row highlights DARPG’s sustained commitment to linguistic inclusivity. According to officials, the achievement is not only a recognition of past efforts but also a motivation to continue advancing the use of Hindi in governance.

Hindi Diwas 2025 Celebrations

The award presentation was part of the Hindi Diwas Celebrations and All India Official Language Conference. The event brought together officials, linguists, and policy makers to discuss strategies for strengthening the role of Hindi in administration while respecting India’s linguistic diversity.

Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the gathering, emphasized that the promotion of Hindi should not be seen as a replacement for regional languages but as a means of ensuring wider participation and better communication in governance. He urged all ministries to adopt innovative methods to increase the use of Hindi in everyday functioning.

Significance of the Award

The Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar is the highest award given by the Union government for promoting the Hindi language in official work. For DARPG, this accolade reinforces its reputation as a model department in implementing language policies effectively.

With the recognition, DARPG has set a benchmark for other ministries and departments, showcasing how consistent efforts can bring about measurable progress in the adoption of Hindi without compromising on administrative efficiency.
