Rajnath Singh Hails Operation Sindoor on Army Day

RR Team, January 15, 2026January 16, 2026
Jaipur, January 15, 2026: Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, during the 78th Indian Army Day celebrations in Jaipur, hailed Operation Sindoor as a balanced military response amidst global uncertainties. He described it as a symbol of India’s courage, strength, restraint, and national character, emphasizing the exemplary bravery and discipline of the Indian Armed Forces.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Singh highlighted that the swift and strategic action against terrorists prevented potential mischief, underlining the importance of restraint, unity, and patience displayed by the soldiers. He noted that the operation continues, and India’s peace efforts will persist until terrorist ideology is eradicated.

Indigenous Weapons and Self-Reliance

The Raksha Mantri stressed the importance of using indigenous weapons, saying self-reliance is both a necessity and a hallmark of India’s defense strategy. He cited that domestic defense production has increased from Rs 46,000 crore in 2014 to Rs 1.51 lakh crore today, while exports surged from less than Rs 1,000 crore to approximately Rs 24,000 crore. The government, led by PM Narendra Modi, is equipping the Armed Forces with state-of-the-art, indigenous weapons tailored to national requirements.

Modernisation and Army Transformation

Shri Rajnath Singh outlined the Indian Army’s roadmap to become the world’s most powerful force by 2047, highlighting a three-phase transformation: consolidation, excellence, and modernization. He lauded the army’s focus on physical, mental, and technological preparedness to meet challenges arising from new dimensions of warfare and stressed strengthening inter-service linkages.

Unity, Peacekeeping, and National Integration

The Defence Minister called the Indian Army a beacon of courage, dedication, and sacrifice. He noted that soldiers from diverse cultural backgrounds unite for a common goal, contributing to national integration and acting as a pillar of nation-building. He highlighted the army’s role in UN Peacekeeping Missions, delivering medical aid, infrastructure support, and humanitarian assistance abroad, reinforcing India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

Women and Youth in Armed Forces

Raksha Mantri emphasized the growing role of women in the Armed Forces, noting that Permanent Commission and NDA admission for women have expanded opportunities. He appealed to the youth to develop mental, moral, and leadership qualities required to serve, and urged citizens to support soldiers’ families and uphold national unity.

Army Day Celebrations in Jaipur

The Army Day program in Jaipur included troop interactions, Shaurya Sandhya showcasing valor, paramotor shows, martial arts displays like Kalaripayattu and Mallakhamb, and a performance by the Nepalese Army Band. The evening featured a spectacular enactment of Operation Sindoor and a drone show.

Additionally, 50 NAMAN Centres were virtually launched under Project NAMAN, providing veterans, pensioners, and next-of-kin with SPARSH-enabled services and government facilitation at a single, accessible location.
