Shivraj Chouhan Urges Citizens to Buy Made in India

RR Team, August 4, 2025August 3, 2025
Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made a heartfelt appeal to every Indian—buy local, support local, and strengthen the nation. His message comes in strong support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to choose indigenous products during his recent address in Varanasi. With rising momentum around the Vocal for Local campaign, the Minister’s words have resonated deeply with citizens across the country. “Why should our money go abroad? Let it provide livelihoods to our own children,” he said with conviction.

Live for the Nation: A Personal Message to Indians

Quoting the emotional line, “Apne liye jiye to kya jiye, ae dil tu ji apne desh ke liye,” Shri Chouhan urged citizens to rise above self-interest. He emphasized the importance of making conscious choices in everyday life—starting with the products we buy.

“Whether it’s made in your village, city, or state—if it’s Made in India, buy it,” he said. His message appeals not just to the logic of economic growth, but also to the emotional duty of every Indian toward nation-building.

Why Buy Made in India?

India is now the world’s fourth-largest economy. With a population of 1.44 billion people, it holds enormous domestic purchasing power. “If we all resolve to use only local goods, small manufacturers and artisans will see their income grow,” the Minister said.

This approach directly benefits:

  • Small-scale industries
  • Self-help groups
  • Local farmers
  • Traditional artisans and craftspeople

And when these contributors thrive, the entire Indian economy becomes stronger.

PM Modi’s Call from Varanasi

On August 2, Prime Minister Modi disbursed the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and took the opportunity to urge the nation to adopt Swadeshi practices.

“Whatever you need—buy it from within India,” he said. This isn’t just a call to action; it’s a movement toward economic self-reliance.

Economic Impact of Indigenous Buying

Every rupee spent on a domestic product stays in India. It fuels entrepreneurship, creates jobs, and increases tax revenue. According to government estimates, over 6 crore micro and small enterprises form the backbone of India’s economy.

Buying Indian-made goods increases their survival rate and supports employment in both urban and rural India.

Supporting Farmers and Rural Economy

As Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Chouhan has always championed farmer-centric policies. This appeal to buy Indian extends to agricultural products too—organic produce, desi grains, handicrafts, and rural handmade items.

Such efforts empower self-help groups (SHGs) and rural women entrepreneurs. The ripple effect of one consumer’s decision can support an entire village economy.

A Market of 1.44 Billion: India’s Potential

India is not just a country; it’s a vast marketplace. With digital payments and rural connectivity on the rise, every Indian can access and contribute to the domestic economy.

Campaigns like ‘One District, One Product’ (ODOP) further promote regional specialties, helping local businesses go national.

The Road Ahead: From Local to Global

While the focus is on buying local, the goal is also to make Indian products globally competitive. Government schemes like Startup India, Make in India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat are creating the foundation for export-led growth.

When domestic demand supports industries, they gain the scale and quality needed for international markets.

Conclusion: Every Purchase is a Patriot Act

The message from Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan is more than just economic advice. It’s a national call for unity through action. Buying Made in India goods isn’t only about saving money—it’s about strengthening the roots of our country.

Let your wallet vote for India. Buy local. Build national. Be proud.
