State Civil Services Officers Attending 127th LBSNAA Training Meet President Murmu

RR Team, June 3, 2025June 3, 2025

The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, met the newly inducted Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers who were promoted from the State Civil Services. These officers are currently attending the 127th Induction Training Programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie. The interaction took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 3, 2025.

In her address, the President acknowledged the officers’ significant work at the grassroots level in their respective states. She appreciated their efforts in local governance, which directly impacted communities. However, she pointed out that their responsibilities have now grown, as they are now part of the Indian Administrative Service, and must work on a broader national platform.

The President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu with a group of IAS officers (2020 batch) at Rashtrapati Bhavan, in New Delhi on August 25, 2022.

From Local to National Responsibility

President Murmu emphasized that these officers are no longer limited to district or state administration. They now need to align with national-level priorities and standards of governance. Their work, she said, must contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, a long-term national goal to transform India into a developed nation by the 100th year of independence.

Inclusive Growth is the Key

The President stressed that inclusive development must be the cornerstone of their administrative efforts. She encouraged the officers to focus on marginalized and underprivileged communities. “Only when the poor and deprived experience growth and progress can we say we are moving toward becoming a truly developed nation,” she stated.

Role of Technology and Innovation

President Murmu highlighted the growing importance of technology and innovation in governance. She urged the officers to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI), e-Governance, and data-driven decision-making tools. These, she said, can vastly improve service delivery, enable faster execution of government schemes, and ensure that benefits reach the last mile.

She also spoke about the use of digital feedback mechanisms to engage with citizens and create more responsive and transparent administration systems.

Core Values of IAS Must Be Preserved

While encouraging modernization, the President also reminded the officers to uphold the core values of the civil service—integrity, transparency, accountability, and empathy. She advised them to act with fairness and impartiality, maintaining high ethical standards at all times.

“Use your authority with empathy,” she said, adding that a human touch is essential in effective public administration.

Empowering the Nation Through Service

In her concluding remarks, President Murmu described the officers as nation-builders. She stressed that their role in implementing good governance and strengthening public service is crucial to the country’s future. By staying committed to inclusive values and modern governance practices, she said, they will help India realize its dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
