The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), Government of India, successfully concluded the Swachhta Hi Sewa 2025 campaign on 2nd October 2025, coinciding with the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Swachh Bharat Diwas. The fortnight-long campaign, initiated on 17th September, aimed to promote cleanliness, public awareness, and community participation across all offices, PSUs, and field units of the Department.

Campaign Activities Across India

During SHS-2025, the Department organized an array of activities, including cleaning of offices and community areas, door-to-door awareness drives, drawing competitions, walkathons, tree plantation drives like Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, and the Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Sath initiative on 25th September. Cultural programmes such as poem recitation, Nukkad Natak, and slogan writing further engaged employees and local communities, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness in daily life.

FCI and CWC Celebrate Safai Mitras

The Food Corporation of India headquarters organized a concluding ceremony at FCI Hqrs Reception, felicitating Safai Mitras with gifts and awards to honour their contribution to maintaining cleanliness. Executive Director (P) and senior officers distributed gifts, boosting the morale of sanitation workers who actively participated in cleanliness drives across depots and offices nationwide.

Similarly, the Central Warehousing Corporation celebrated SHS-2025 on 1st October, organizing a felicitation programme to recognise the exceptional efforts of Safai Mitras in upholding hygienic work environments.

Tributes and Swachhata Resolutions

Employees and officers at IGMRI-Ludhiana paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, pledging to adopt his ideals of truth, non-violence, cleanliness, and simplicity in daily life. In Hyderabad, during Swachhotsav-2025, Safai Mitras who made significant contributions to maintaining cleanliness at IGMRI were awarded, inspiring others to actively implement Gandhian principles in their personal and professional lives.

Impact and Significance

Swachhta Hi Sewa 2025 has demonstrated the Government of India’s commitment to not only honouring the Father of the Nation but also to institutionalizing his vision of cleanliness as a symbol of dignity and civic responsibility. The campaign successfully engaged thousands of employees, fostering awareness, discipline, and participation across all levels of the Department and its subordinate organizations.
