In preparation for the Union Budget 2025-26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level consultation with prominent economists and sectoral experts at NITI Aayog in New Delhi on December 24, 2024. Key topics discussed included strategies for job creation, enhancing agricultural productivity, and funding major infrastructure projects to boost economic growth.
The meeting was attended by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister P.K. Mishra, and other senior officials.
Priorities for Economic Growth
The discussions centered on:
- Job Creation: Exploring innovative ways to generate employment in both urban and rural areas, addressing the rising demand for skilled and semi-skilled labor.
- Agriculture: Increasing farm productivity through modern technology and sustainable practices, ensuring better income for farmers while reducing waste.
