Union Home Minister Amit Shah Addresses BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha’s ‘Karyakar Suvarna Mahotsav’ in Ahmedabad

RR Team, December 8, 2024December 8, 2024

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, attended the ‘Karyakar Suvarna Mahotsav’ of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha in Ahmedabad on December 7, 2024. The event, held at the world’s largest Narendra Modi Stadium, marked the 103rd birth anniversary of Pramukh Swami Maharaj and celebrated the organization’s significant contributions.

In his address, Shri Shah praised the BAPS organization, which traces its roots to Lord Swaminarayan, for blending devotion with social service. He highlighted how the organization’s efforts go beyond religious practices, playing a vital role in societal welfare. Shri Shah pointed out that the teachings of Pramukh Swami Maharaj have shaped the organization, motivating countless individuals to adopt discipline, service, and selflessness in their lives.

Recalling the inspiring journey of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Shri Shah shared how, at the age of 18, he renounced worldly life to serve his Guru, eventually becoming a monumental figure whose influence resonated throughout India and beyond. Through his vision, Pramukh Swami Maharaj instilled values of faith, courage, and a drive to face challenges, impacting millions globally.

The Union Home Minister also acknowledged the remarkable contributions of BAPS in freeing many individuals from addictions, alleviating the burdens of affected families. He noted that, through Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s guidance, the Swaminarayan institution has fostered millions of volunteers who work toward the common good of society. The efforts of over one lakh workers have brought lasting benefits to communities worldwide, particularly in the realms of education, service, and moral development.

Shri Shah emphasized that in 1972, Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s leadership transformed the organization from a small group of eight workers to a global movement with millions of volunteers. This growth, likened to a seed evolving into a fruitful tree, showcases the profound impact of dedicated service and spiritual leadership.

The Union Home Minister also highlighted the unique nature of the organization, noting that it is “unimaginable” to find another such global institution with over one lakh volunteers committed to social welfare. Drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for a ‘developed India’ by 2047, Shri Shah called upon everyone to contribute to the realization of this goal, integrating culture, religion, society, and service into the nation’s growth.
