VP C. P. Radhakrishnan at JSS AHER 16th Convocation

RR Team, November 9, 2025November 27, 2025
Vice-President of India Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the 16th Convocation of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER) in Mysuru on 9 November 2025, urging the 2,925 graduating students to embrace the flexibility and interdisciplinary focus of NEP 2020 and to contribute humbly to the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

NEP 2020: Flexibility, interdisciplinary learning and empowerment

In his convocation address, the Vice-President highlighted the transformational role of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), praising its emphasis on interdisciplinary learning, flexibility in course design and student-centred approaches. He said NEP’s framework empowers diligent students to adapt, innovate and apply knowledge across domains — skills that graduates will need in a rapidly changing workforce.

Shri Radhakrishnan underscored that higher education must not be siloed and encouraged institutions and students to prioritise holistic learning, ethical conduct and practical competencies aligned with national development priorities.

Consistency, character and the call of Swami Vivekananda

The Vice-President urged graduates to cultivate consistency and self-discipline as the foundation for long-term success. Quoting Swami Vivekananda  “Arise, Awake, and Stop Not Till the Goal is Reached”  he encouraged students to persist in the face of obstacles and to set personal goals that reflect their talents and values.

He also cautioned about the distractions of social media, asking young alumni to practice digital self-discipline and balance online engagement with real-world responsibilities and family values.

Knowledge, humility and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047

Invoking the ancient proverb that “knowledge is the real wealth,” Shri Radhakrishnan asked graduates to carry the light of learning into society, inspire future generations, and contribute to nation-building with humility. He framed these responsibilities within the long-term goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 a vision that calls for educated, skilled and socially conscious citizens.

Honouring excellence and local heritage

During the ceremony, sixteen Gold Medallists across academic disciplines were felicitated. The Vice-President also lauded Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage and welcomed Kannada’s recognition as a classical language, noting that regional traditions and languages enrich India’s plural identity while coexisting with national aspirations.

Convocation details and distinguished attendees

Around 2,925 degrees, diplomas and fellowships were conferred at the convocation. The ceremony was attended by Governor of Karnataka Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Chancellor of JSS AHER His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, former Supreme Court Judge Justice Sri Shivaraj V. Patil, and other dignitaries who joined in recognising student achievement.
