RR Team, June 13, 2025June 13, 2025

Reimagining Governance: MyGov’s ‘Think Social’ Workshop Ushers in a New Era of Digital Outreach

On June 12, 2025, MyGov, the citizen engagement platform under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), hosted a powerful workshop titled “Think Social @ MyGov” at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

This one-day event brought together digital communication professionals from across central Ministries, along with industry leaders from YouTube and Meta, to reimagine how government interacts with citizens in the digital age.

A Vision for Citizen-Centric Governance

The workshop opened with ceremonial lamp lighting and welcoming remarks by Shri Nand Kumarum, CEO of MyGov, who reflected on the platform’s 11-year journey.

He emphasized the vital role of digital tools in supporting Janbhagidari (citizen participation)—a core element of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance model.

“Social media isn’t just outreach—it’s policy-making in real time,” he stated.

Learning from the Best: Sessions by YouTube and Meta

Senior subject matter experts from YouTube and Meta led deep-dive sessions on:

  • Platform intelligence and trends

  • Strategic content development

  • Tools like Google Trends, Meta AI, and WhatsApp API

  • Best practices for Reels, Stories, and Threads

These sessions aimed to maximize audience engagement and build digital trust.

Key Highlights and Case Studies Shared

1. Mega Campaigns, Massive Reach

  • Pariksha Pe Charcha 2025: Engaged over 3 crore students and parents across India.

  • National Creators Awards: 1.5 lakh nominations and 6,000 in-person attendees.

  • Chandrayaan 3 Maha Quiz: Winners earned a visit to Sriharikota, inspiring scientific curiosity.

2. Social Media Innovation in Action

  • Operation Sindoor: Countered fake news with real-time government updates.

  • Campus Ambassador Programme: Connected youth leaders with government missions.

  • MyGov Stream OTT: Launched to showcase governance-related content in video format.

  • GDP Podcast & Roar for Nature: Educated listeners on climate action and economic awareness.

Expert Contributions: Insights Worth Noting

  • Ms. Garima Tiwari: Outlined flagship campaigns and measurable public outcomes.

  • Shri Ashish Khare: Highlighted dynamic storytelling across platforms.

  • Shri Upendra Upadhyay: Shared how data analytics drive campaign success.

  • Mrs. Renu Singh: Stressed inter-agency collaboration and cross-platform synergy.

Why This Matters for India’s Digital Future

The workshop stressed three strategic goals:

  1. Consistency across platforms and messages.

  2. Data-driven governance using analytics to refine outreach.

  3. Transparent, inclusive communication in line with citizen needs.

Together, these tools ensure the government not only reaches people—but also listens, learns, and evolves.

Conclusion: Smarter Governance, Stronger Democracy

“Think Social @ MyGov” wasn’t just an event—it was a clear signal that digital governance is no longer optional. It’s essential.

By combining tech expertise with citizen-centric values, the government is building a system that’s transparent, responsive, and inclusive.

The future of democracy is digital—and it speaks your language.
